After a career teaching adults in Inner London, I have retired a cold wind’s breath away from the English Channel in Wyke Regis, as befits a fourth generation Dorset woman.

Under the artistic name Van Essa, I’m currently specialising in creating sea-life miniatures – drawing turtles, shrimps, sea horses, crabs, rays, swordfish and sea serpents on weathered, timeless pieces of flint and stone.

I also compose music and write poetry. My other artwork includes sketches of animals and landscapes, scraperboard work, book cover design, as well as a cartoon story of 160 strips.
