A local Portland artist working primarily with encaustic wax, Lyn is drawn to the olfactory properties of this medium. The smell and texture, the way it changes under heat, allowing her to embed collaged items, incise text and create depths of texture and image. Lyn is mesmerised by the way the wax melts and re-arranges itself, moving across a surface picking up and repelling colour as it goes.

Current work looks to describe the ever changing moods of the sea, organic patterns, delicious colours and textures of decay visible in the landscape. New experimentation with portraiture and life drawing feeds the obsession with wax and its infinite possibilities.
