A visual arts community for South Dorset

Art has been a major focus of my life and still is.
After a foundation course at the Harrow School of Art in the 50’s & later private courses, I later gained a certificate in Adult Education Teaching.
I studied privately with several Federation of British Arts' members and started my career in painting with commissioned portraits as well as exhibiting. An invitation from a new theatre being built in High Wycombe led to illustrating many performances including the English National Ballet(ENB) and Matthew Bourne's version of ”Swan Lake”. This also led to a year as Resident Artist with the ENB and developed my love of painting dancers, performers and musicians. I spent some time in Canada where I was resident artist for the annual WATERLOO JAZZ FESTIVAL, illustrator for the K-W SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA and other smaller groups.
Portraiture and figurative illustration has obviously played an important part of my studies, but I enjoy landscapes and seascapes especially of exotic locations.
I am constantly playing with paint and searching for different ways of manipulating the medium of choice.
