A visual arts community for South Dorset

About

My work is hand-built and I make land and seascape plaques, primitive sculptures and beads and buttons. My most recent piece is a totem pole, that is installed in my garden and I am happy to undertake commissions. Work that is destined to live outside is fired at a high temperature in my electric kiln, other work is usually Raku fired, which is an exciting, unpredictable and dramatic process that can create subtle and nuanced results.
Some of the Raku fired plaques have been mended, using the Kintsugi method, an ancient Japanese way of mending pots with gold. In my case, it's not real gold, as that would make the piece very expensive.
My beads are made from paper clay, which is lighter, and fired in my electric kiln. Each necklace is different, my beads are interspersed with lava beads and silver spacers.
I also make Dichroic glass pendants and earrings, firing the glass in my electric kiln and using sterling silver posts on my earrings.
