I started painting when I moved to Weymouth ten years ago, never having had time or space during my busy working life, though I looked at art at every opportunity.

My house overlooking the harbour gave me the impetus and the sea views. To me the act of painting and sweeping colour on to canvas in a quite unformed and unstructured abstract way was cathartic and more important than the final image – like singing, the glow and wellbeing lasted well beyond the activity.

I’m a sailor and a rower. I like to paint the sea, real and remembered, in its million faces, but also occasional portraits. I like to put a secret in each picture.
