About my Work

About my Work

Strong colour is my forte, I think.  You will make up your own mind as you scroll through my Gallery here.  However, the eye sometimes has to have a rest, hence the occasional monochrome pictures you can see in between.

I have travelled a long way from my first textile picture “Lily”, which was totally hand stitched.  I then moved on to extensive machine stitching and beading (“Black and White Trees”), through layered (“Brocade I”) and applique work (“Branch Lines”) and then to patchwork and quilting (the “New York Beauty” series).  Latterly I have dabbled in painting and mono printing, but I also love photography, which has led me to the stitched textiles based on my digitally altered images (for example “The Pitchmarket”).

There was a time when I would have been hesitant because I have not studied art, but when I think about the many workshops I have attended over the years, the number of City & Guilds courses I have taken and, more recently, the number of YouTube videos I have poured over, I think I have had extensive tuition anyway, all of which I have enjoyed thoroughly.  My sources and tributes are on my personal website.

I hope you enjoy the variety!
