Painting has always been one of my main interests and I have had pictures in a number of exhibitions including: The Mall Galleries, London, my own one-man exhibition in Shetland (while living there), the Overseas League, London and various exhibitions in Surrey.
In Surrey, my home county, friends and I formed The Sunday Painters and had a very well received exhibition in Wimbledon.
Working commercially for over twenty years in The National Gallery gave me the opportunity of studying and living with one of our greatest collections. However, this had a down side as it made me hypercritical of my own amateurish paintings.
Mediums I use are pastel, gouache, watercolour, mixed media – and I have enjoyed courses for painting on silk. Recently I have made a little dabble into acrylic, but pastels are my greatest enjoyment and mostly working when possible in plein air.
