Artwey has secured regular exhibiting venues across Weymouth, Dorchester and Poundbury where our members can exhibit their artworks throughout the year. During the 2020 lockdown we have sadly lost a couple of the regular venues, but are hopeful to replace these, once life gets back to normal. These exhibition opportunities are in Café’s, Restaurants and Hotels, and the space available and type of work that works best differs across the venues. For more information on exhibiting in one or more of our regular venues go to the Venues schedules
From time to time we secure exhibition space in larger venues for an Artwey group show. These will be normally be ‘themed’ and members are encouraged to submit work for selection to ensure that the final show is both cohesive and professional. There will normally be a fee to submit work, and selected artists required to help with the organisation. A guide to running an Artwey exhibition is available here.
Our biennial Open for Art trail and open studio event is very popular with visitors and locals across South Dorset. This event is managed by a specific OFA team, is open to Artwey and non-Artwey artists, and is subject to a fee to be included in the printed guide and publicity materials.
Dorset Art Weeks organised by Dorset Visual Arts occurs in the interim year to Open for Art. Artwey members often organise group venues, which offers greater opportunities for increased footfall and shared stewarding.
Our last group exhibition in 2020 was ‘Treasure Planet’ at Bridport Arts Centre. Sadly we had to close earlier than planned due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
The exhibition included selected works from 40 of our membership. Mediums included; paint, print, glass, ceramics, felt, textiles, photography, jewellery, stone and wood sculptures, books and cards.
