Lyn Kirkland
Lyn lives and paints on the Isle of Portland, working primarily with encaustic bees wax. She is drawn to the olfactory properties of this medium, the smell, the texture and the way it changes under heat. Her work is colourful, textured and full of movement. Lending itself to abstract depictions of the sea and sky.

Embedding photographic images in the layers of wax to recreate a scene, or romanticise a memory, is a key part of her current work, and she has produced several commissions giving new life to old photographs.

Lyn is a previous winner of the prestigious Black Swan Art Open for Emerging Artist. She is a former co-Director of Artwey and a current board member of the International Encaustic Artists (IEA)

Lyn runs Contemporary Encaustic Wax Workshops suitable for novice artists and professionals from her Studio on Portland and small group sessions at various locations around Dorset. Please contact her for more information or visit her website in the links.
