Di Gilliver's Diary | Diary

In almost everything I paint there is an element of repetition, reflection or symmetry that probably links back in some way to my training as a scientist.

The watercolour ‘Blue boat’ is a typical example with the weathered wood of the harbour wall and its reflections.

A lifelong interest in the sea and sailing often leads me to depict water and boats in my work and as a biologist I am drawn to images of trees, birds and other living things.

The strong elements of pattern and bold colour in my work are leading me gradually towards a form of abstraction that I am keen to explore.
