Encaustic wax painting is as versatile as any 21st Century medium. It can be polished to a high gloss, carved, scraped, layered, collaged, dipped, cast, sculpted and textured to create a stunning piece of contemporary art.
Introduction to Contemporary Encaustic Wax
I am now able to offer personal introductory workshops from my studio on the Isle of Portland, Dorset, UK. During the session you will work on a hand-crafted birch ply panel. You will learn about the tools, materials and methods of creating your wax painting in a safe environment.
It is vital to prepare your panel for painting. Fusing wax layers to create a good working surface. I will discuss and demonstrate various techniques e.g. Shellac burn, mixed media collaging, building texture and creating translucent layers. There will be ample time to experiment with what you have learned and you will leave the session with a finished panel and lots of ideas for setting up your own studio.
Personal session 10:00 – 16:00 £120 per person (Maximum of two people)
